Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 July 2026. This page is maintained by Wuber to explain how we handle personal data in the Wuber app and at wuberapp.com.
Who we are
Wuber is a waste-broker service that connects customers with licensed waste carriers in the UK. We act as the data controller for the personal data described below. You can reach us about any privacy matter at privacy@wuberapp.com.
Data we collect
- Account details — name, email address and the role you sign up as (customer, carrier or broker).
- Job details — collection address, access notes, preferred collection date, item descriptions and estimated weights.
- Photos — images of the waste you upload so carriers can quote accurately, plus waste transfer notes uploaded by carriers.
- Location data — while a carrier is en route, and only with their explicit permission, the app shares the carrier's device location so the customer and broker can track the vehicle. Sharing stops automatically on arrival or when the job is marked collected.
- Payment data — payments are processed by Stripe. We store only a payment reference and status; we never see or store your full card number.
- Technical data — basic log and device information needed to keep the service secure and working.
How we use your data
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To publish your job to carriers so they can quote, and to deliver quotes back to you.
- To take, hold and release payment for a collection, including refunds and cancellations.
- To provide live tracking on the collection date.
- To record proof of lawful disposal via waste transfer notes, as required by UK waste regulations.
- To provide customer support and to prevent fraud or misuse.
Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (delivering the collection you booked), legal obligation (waste duty-of-care records), consent (device location and camera access) and legitimate interests (security and service improvement).
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary data with the carrier assigned to your job (your collection address, contact details, photos and job notes) and with these service providers:
- Stripe — payment processing and escrow-style authorisation and capture.
- Supabase — database, authentication and file storage hosting.
- Google Maps — map rendering for live tracking.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
Location and camera permissions
The mobile app requests location access only for carriers, only while the app is in use, and only to share a live position during an active collection. Camera and photo-library access is requested only when you choose to add a photo to a job or upload a waste transfer note. You can withdraw either permission at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app continues to work.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is active. Job records, waste transfer notes and payment references are retained for a minimum of two years to meet UK waste duty-of-care and tax record requirements. Live location points are transient and are not stored after a collection completes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and request a copy of your data in a portable format. Email privacy@wuberapp.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing privacy@wuberapp.com. We will remove your profile and job content, retaining only the statutory waste and payment records we are legally required to keep.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in access-controlled databases with row-level security so users can only reach records relating to their own jobs. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we review our access controls regularly.
Children
Wuber is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be notified in the app.
